EXPOSITION

GRANITE CAVE — a space-time distortion has descended here, bringing thunder and lightning and darkened skies around the cave system. As you approach this dome of crackling energy, you can feel the world being unstable all around you. Traversal through the purplish membrane of this realm is seamless and yet, the world contained within is wholly different than what is outside.[break][break]

Moving into this realm may be DIFFICULT due to its center being in the middle of GRANITE CAVE. To enter the dome, you must also enter the dark cave made more dangerous by the unstable nature of the distortion.[break][break]

Highly aggressive Pokémon appear out of nowhere, as if teleported from an entirely different plane. Some of these Pokémon are of species never before seen.[break][break]

Furthermore, the passage of time seems to flow differently here. The physical space before you glitches and fidgets too, occasionally forcing you to your knees.[break][break]

Participating in this distortion will allow your character to retrieve the following item:[break]

This item may be used for a small monetary reward in the future.

HOW TO:
[break]

TO PARTICIPATE IN A SPACE-TIME DISTORTION, your character must make an IC-post of them entering the realm. Each of your characters can participate.[break][break]

However, your characters only have a limited amount of time to take advantage of the space-time distortion's peculiarities. Using items from the SITE SHOP that you have purchased or have earned, you can perform the following limited actions:[break][break]

Catch**/evolve/form change to Hisui (ONE TIME)[break]
requires: form change or evolution item.
Learn PLA-exclusive moves (TWO TIMES)[break]
requires: move items.
Age your character.

**Feel free to reflavor/reskin past Pokémon you have caught to be Hisuian versions caught during this Space-time Distortion. Furthermore, should you want your Pokémon to undergo an "IC" form change, you can explain the metamorphoses by the dimensional instability.[break][break]

Furthermore, please note in your post which Pokémon you are "catching/evolving/form changing", what moves you are learning, and more. If you are aging your character, please note to what age. Lastly, you DO NOT NEED TO POST IN THE SITE SHOP unless you are purchasing a required item.[break][break]

If you are form changing a Pokemon into a Hisuian form, feel free to change moves that they would not be able to have to their equivalents (e.g. level up moves to level up moves / egg moves to move tutor moves because there are no egg tutor moves in PLA) free of charge.[break][break]

Heat flush had caused his Goodra to seek shelter in this cave, and Callan was here gently pouring a the crystalline pool water underneath Granite cave over his slug Pokemon. It seemed content, lolling its tongue out as the cool water splashed over its face. "Good work today Bubblegum." He said, rubbing a hand over its stubby antenna, slime stuck to his hand, but it was clean.

"G-g-g-g-..." A rippling was heard above, as a familiar sensation, like prickling under the skin, ran across Callan's limbic system. Another space-time distortion? But more importantly, his Goodra had begun to sneeze, as it hacked uncontrollably from the ripple effect, its body began to rapidly transmute... and then it was over, almost as if nothing happened. "You alright bud?" Bubblegum looked over towards Callan, as if nothing happened, before nudging his hand to continue splashing water over it. As Callan went to scoop again, a brilliant, white light short up from the room.

after sending a text to his good friend and colleague Greyson Connors, who had agreed to meet up at granite cave for a light run to improve their cardio, he sighs, looking around at nothing in particular.

and then something bounds his way.

"oh shit."

a burst of his pokeball later calls out a shield of PROTECT. his avalugg towers over him, standing strong only to start shaking. cian blinks, and a moment later, avalugg is has a much sharper head.

It makes him uncomfortable to be back here.

After the strange incidents that had occurred with Father Winter, the once inviting atmosphere of Granite Cave has taken on a threatening air. That negative aura is only compounded by the appearance of the distortion, and Gavin almost turns around to leave.

No, he tells himself firmly. You are no coward.

A cold luxury ball fits against his palm, and he sends an Avalugg out to face the fray.

As expected, something within its genetic make-up is changed by the distortion. A bulk of its ice seems to melt, its body shrinking and sharpening into new shapes. Rock is exposed where once there was only glacier-white.

He returns it, satisfied, and retrieves a green shard from the cave floor. Did this fall out of the ice when it melted, or...?

There's a moment of pause at the entrance to Granite Cave.

Stretching out the time spent beneath the open sky, Angelo guides his pen with more care than usual to scratch coordinates over their location on his Space Time Distortion map.

For lingering beyond the gloom lies more than the harrowing shiver of dark narrow spaces. Now, Granite Cave was where Father Winter had left his mark, beyond the invisible ones upon his brain.

With a heavy exhale, more so to snap himself out of his funk, Angelo makes a poor job of folding up his map before shoving it into his pocket. (He's sure Eva Morales wouldn't mind a few wrinkles. He'd seen her organised chaos.)

He wasn't about to let memories get in the way of fulfilling his aims, let alone dictate his footfalls.

By his side trots a Growlithe he'd retrieved from the last distortion. She doesn't stay that way for long, as the walls condense and Angelo's heartbeat becomes heavy, her form begins to change.

Stronger. Sturdier. Warm against his side, a source of reassurance.

“Good girl.” He smiles, fingers ruffling her mane, as the Arcanine scratches at a shard of green twinkling in the dirt.

Mars had been avoiding the place for months, ever since what happened with Father Winter, and when finding himself standing at the entrance to the cavern that lies near Dewford Town, saying that he feels on edge is an understatement. He’s sure that feeling is probably shared by all those who had encounters similar to his; luka chêne, Cillian Quinn, and Arceus knows who else, but that knowledge is not comforting.

The Unown Report entry registered by it appears like a neon sign in his mind when amber eyes meet the unblinking one of the Unown-! that had guided him to the distortion, exclamation mark idly hovering within the dimly lit cavern, as if waiting for him to follow. Mars sighs, stepping in, but the Unown he had met in a dying world doesn’t guide him to the area with the paintings.

Instead, he finds himself at a stream, one where Qwilfish of purple spikes gather as if naval mines. It reminds him of the ones that had been set up for Team Rocket and that he and Remiel Calcifet once had to save their caretakers from, since they would EXPLODE upon contact. These are different, but also not.

Granite Cave was one of the most dangerous caves to be in. Not only was it difficult to get into the first place, but the sheer pitch black darkness on top of pokemon that tend to be more aggressive make it almost impossible to traverse. Luckily for ex gym leader, this wasn’t his first time being down in.

“Light it up Nisha,” the scarred man mumbled, the shiny umbreon’s blue rings took on a brighter glow, casting the area with a light glow roughly ten feet all round. His warm gaze flickered over the dark shadows that her light did not reach, the sounds of anger pokemon and crackling distortion filled the tunnels. A frown form along his lips, gaze shifted to his oddly colored umbreon.

A hiss erupted from her, fur stood on end as a shadowy figure slowly come to the edge of their light. “Easy Nisha,” the man grumbled, eyes narrowed, “We don’t know what it.” A malicious snicker rang out from the tall shadowy figure, suddenly a fringed chill whirled towards them. It took his breath away, forcing him to kneel and reach out to shelter his umbreon from the cold.

Maverick clenched hard, skin felt so cold but soon went numb. The umbreon let out a soft pleading meow, seeing the man hurt. It was only when the cold wind stopped that the name stood, hands a thin layer of ice. His gaze was dark, focused on the opponent. “Let’s catch it Nisha,” the man growled, shoving his hands into his pockets, “Use dark pulse.”

The feline hissed loudly, eyed filled with vengeance. Her muzzle parted, a dark sphere filled with dark energy began to form. Swiftly, the ball enlarged and was ready to fire. She fired, the dark pulse moving fast as it hit the shadowy target. It screeched, stumbling back and fall with a light thud.

Pulling a sphere form his pocket, the man tossed the ball into the darkness where he assumed that creature fell. His aim was true, clocking the creature and drawling it into it. It locked behind it, a soft clink indicated that the ball hit the ground. He sighed, motioning for his umbreon to follow. She was still on edge, teeth bared as they got lose to the ball. Maverick plucked the ball of the ground before shoving it into his pocket. There was something else on the ground, so he picked that up too. “Let’s go.”

Space-Time Distortion

He had heard of those during his imprisonment, but now was the first time he could actually encounter it. Actual distortions, affecting areas within the region and causing changes within both the environment and pokemons that were held within. Some say these distortions served to even connect the past with the present, bringing back long lost pokemons.[break][break]

Thus, the recently freed man decided it was time for him to check it out. Of course, not as "Balder" but as the enigmatic armored figure that was Dark Sun. The walking fortress entered the gravite cave, unhindered by the darkness held within. He advanced without issues until he reached the distortion itself, a purple dome of energy in appearance.[break][break]

As a precaution, he entered his hand first before pulling it out a few seconds later. No noticeable change nor weird feelings. With a deep breath and the sound of moving armor, Dark Sun entered the distortion. The moment he stepped in, an aggressive Golem and an unknown creature proceeded to attack him.[break][break]

Blades made of rock, similar to a scyther in shape... What was it? He never saw anything regarding this creature during his travels, not in any history books. But now wasn't the time to analyse, he had to defend himself. Thus, did he summon one of his old partners: Ash the Typhlosion.[break][break]

Whilst he himself handled the Golem, the Typhlosion would face the unknown entity. As time went on however... Changes started to happen to the Typhlosion. Flames of a purple shade, the skin color growing a more purple-ish shade and the ears dropping. What could be the trigger of such change?. Finishing the Golem and knocking it unconcious, the warrior directed his attention to his partner.[break][break]

It wasn't an evolution, but rather an adaptation to this new environment? Primal Reversion? Something that awoke within the Typhlosion? Nevertheless, with eerie flames, the fire-type proceeded to defeat the unknown force. Some analysis would be needed later on, but for now, the Alolan judged better to exit this area before something worse happened.[break]

Eva wanders into yet another Space-Time Distortion. The thrill is still the same. Chaos reigns around them with the echoing screams of violent pokemon. Rumors of a Scyther evolution occurring in these phenomena had reached the scientists ears. Naturally, she had to test the theory out herself.

As usual, she shouldn’t have come alone, but she does. Her usual adventure buddy, MATIAS SILPH, was on probation from her outings. He would likely be here anyway. Maybe they would run into each other.

A flash of light releases the Scyther. Wings flash into view and a steady hum beats through the chaos and . . . nothing happens.

Damn.

Oh? Shiny!

Eva walks a few feet over to pick up a GREEN SHARD.

When she turns around, the Scyther is no more. Instead, a brown insect towers over her, swinging its STONE AXE impressively.

As soon as word got out that a distortion has appeared once again, Genesis was out looking for it. And after some traveling through a dark cave, she found what she was looking for. Not only did she find a shard, but green orbs spotted the creature she wanted. Plucking a ball from her rooster, the woman launched the ball at the strange looking sneasel. It hit, sucking the creature in and locking behind it. Noice.

SPACE-TIME DISTORTION #6

After another relatively long day of exploring around, Jack knew that it was probably a good idea to find shelter for the night. The weather seemed to start to be getting relatively nasty, so he knew that camping outside like normal was off the table. As such, he quickly made his way towards the nearest cave system he could find - Granite Cave! He had read that it was a relatively pretty cave, and he was planning on exploring it the next day anyway, so what better way than starting the day off with it?

With this happy thought in mind, Jack would send out his Pokemon, and start getting set up for the night in a relatively off corner of the caves! With a nice warm fire in the works, the trainer could cuddle up against his Dragonite, and his Luxio and Zorua coming up onto him for more warmth. There was a clear trust between Jack and all of his Pokemon, as he always did his best for all of them.

However, a few hours into their sleep...they were awoken by a loud crash of lightning! The trainer and his team were quick to get on their feet, as the area around them had an odd aura about it. It was as if the whole cave was distorting, things looking older and newer at the same time, changing constantly. Jack cursed under his breath, before calling to his team to stick together and getting out of the cave!

As they made their way back to the entrance, an odd looking Pokemon appeared from out of nowhere, like it was summoned from a completely different location! Opal, his Zorua, being ever the brave one, was the first to come to her Trainer's defence! However, as the odd Pokemon approached, an even odder shimmer would surround Opal! Even the odd Pokemon looked confused, as Opal would suddenly be surrounded in a bright light! As it faded, Jack's beloved Zorua looked a lot different than before - from a pitch black coat of fur to a ghostly grey! Her eyes still held that same bravery and mischief it always had, but it was clear that she had gone through quite the odd transformation!

While the shock of the current situation was not expected, Jack knew that they still had to escape. Luckily for them, the Pokemon would suddenly disappear, leaving the path open once more! The team would then make their escape, Jack holding onto Opal, close to his chest. He didn't know what was going on, or why his Zorua had changed so drastically...but he did know that it was still her. And no matter what form she took, that would never change, at least in Jack's eyes!

Escorted by an Onix, Derek and his Sobble carve a path deep into Granite Cave hoping to find a worthy pokemon to battle. Thankfully something did present itself, and a rather interesting something at that. The rock snake appeared to dig underground, while Jonesy sent out a water gun at the pokemon standing before them.

Colliding with the Typhlosion's infernal parade, Derek and his Sobble mostly avoided the attack while Onix broke up through the earth and pinned the adversary against the rocky walls of the cave. After a brief struggle and some groans of pain, it fell unconscious and slumped to the floor.

Clicking open a pokeball, it quickly snatches up the ancient pokemon and secures it inside, allowing them to continue on their way through the distortion.

Adrian does not leave her out of sight for long, following after her into the dubious terrain beneath the sandstone making up most of Dewford Town.[break][break]

"Careful here." They have to walk single file through some parts of the cave, and where they brace against the hard rock of the cavern's walls, he can feel reality slipping. The air is heaviest here, and he feels a sort of pressure bearing down upon him. But it passes with time, allowing him to gain some composure, and to notice something underfoot[break][break]

It glints through the dimly lit cave.[break][break]

Picking it up, Adrian realizes it is a matching green shard, like from the other distortions. He wonders what they really are, though without any means to answer this question he simply pockets it and leaves it be for now. Something ahead of them whirs in the dark, and Howitzer is quick to go bounding into shadow to pursue it, leaving Adrian alone in the light of a torch. Wondering where she'd gone...[break][break]

"Howie?" Her footsteps fade into the distance, ending in silence. There are no sounds of a struggle, but he feels eerily alone, experiencing a sort of sensory deprivation as the reality around them seems to fluctuate. After what seemed like a long time, Howitzer returns to his side, followed shortly after by a Growlithe most unusual.[break][break]

He lets out a sigh of relief, though as they continue through the cave it is clear Howitzer is attached to this pup, perhaps concerned for its well being after sensing a fundamental kinship. I guess they're one of us now...

the hairs on the back of his neck rose, and instantly, greyson knew something was wrong.

all around him the world began to change. a dome of something reminiscent of black lightning erected itself around him. the sounds of thunder echo like encroaching war drums, and greyson flinches.

"ow, fuck." he groans, reaching to rub the spot on his head. a glistening thing sticks out from the icy floor, and he reaches to pick it up. a shard of some kind, green instead of the blue from his last adventure.

grimacing, greyson turns towards the entrance of the cave. shadows were cast like great creatures of nightmares and sounds of all kinds pulse downwards, deeper.

suddenly, he remembered — he wasn't alone.

"sabre!" his voice was nothing in comparison to the reality warping storm that raged around him. luckily, it didn't seem to matter. the samurott comes racing in, paws scraping on the slippery floor. only... it wasn't the same one he remembered.

his armor was no longer that shade of cream, layered neatly over one another. it now stood in jarring, uneven lines, reminiscent of coral. it was black like the depthless sea with jagged lines of red.

greyson blinks. samurott blinks. his trainer sighs.

"not again."
